Homeownership Is The American Dream.
We Fight to Keep It That Way.

For generations, owning a home has represented security, stability, and the promise of America. Senior citizens who built their lives in their homes, veterans who served to protect this country, and families who sacrificed to buy their first house all deserve to be treated with dignity. They should never be targeted, exploited, or financially harmed by the associations meant to serve them.

WHO WE PROTECT

Vulnerable Homeowners Deserve a Champion

HOAs hold enormous financial and legal power over the people who live in their communities. The Homeowner Justice Project specifically advocates for those most at risk of having that power turned against them.

Senior Citizens

Older homeowners on fixed incomes who face predatory fees, retaliatory fines, and enforcement tactics designed to push out long-term residents.

Military Veterans

Those who served our country deserve to come home to a fair community. No HOA should be allowed to weaponize rules, fees, or selective enforcement against them.

Disabled Individuals

Homeowners with disabilities denied reasonable accommodations, assessed discriminatory fines, or blocked from modifications legally required under the Fair Housing Act.

Disaster Victims

Homeowners in federally declared disaster zones where HOA boards may control, delay, or misappropriate FEMA and federal relief funds meant for the residents themselves.

THE PROBLEM

HOA Abuse Is More Common Than You Think

Homeowners' associations are nonprofits by law. Every member deserves a voice, full financial transparency, and qualified board members. Without accountability, that authority becomes a tool for harm. The Homeowner Justice Project intervenes when that power is turned against the people it should protect.

  • Excessive or retaliatory fines targeting protected-class homeowners
  • Denial of disability accommodations required under the Fair Housing Act
  • Selective rule enforcement against seniors, veterans, or disabled individuals
  • Misuse or misappropriation of FEMA disaster relief funds
  • Lack of transparency in budgets, reserve funds, and special assessments
  • Unqualified board members making decisions about facility safety and road maintenance
  • Denial of member access to governing documents, meeting minutes, or financial records
  • Forced foreclosure over trivial fee disputes
  • Harassment or retaliation against homeowners who speak out
⚠️ Disaster Zones: A Specific Risk Area

When FEMA and federal disaster relief funds flow into HOA-governed communities, boards may gain control over repairs, insurance settlements, and infrastructure funds, often without adequate transparency or resident oversight. This gap exists in disaster-affected HOA communities across the country.

📋 Know Your Rights

The Fair Housing Act protects senior citizens, veterans, and disabled homeowners from discriminatory HOA enforcement. Many victims don't know these protections exist, or how to enforce them. That's exactly why this project exists.
